If you suffer from dry skin your probably always looking for different ways to help improve your condition. There are some different products that can help keep it under control, many of witch don’t help that well. You do need to find the right products and know how to apply them. Here are some tips to help you control your dry skin.

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you only take one bath or shower per day. You also should use warm water, not hot. Be sure to not scrub to hard. If you don’t follow these steps your skin wont produce sebum like it should. Sebum is what produces oil to keep your skin feeling natural.

Here are some other tips that you should follow to prevent dry skin.

- Apply moisturizer after you take a bath. Many products work best when your skin is still wet.

- Antiperspirants and perfumes can cause dry skin. If you use either one of these be sure to not over use them.

- If you live in a cold climate your house or work place may have very dry air. You will need a humidifier to help keep the air more moist.

- If you are outdoors allot you need to make sure your skin is well protected. Be sure to have sun screen on. Make sure you have a t-shirt on. You don’t want your skin to be exposed to the sun to much.

Most dry skin isn’t very severe. You can easily keep your dry skin condition under control by applying a good moisturizer and following some of the tips in this article.

Dry Skin Lotion

Writen by Jimmy Sturo
A wide variety of moisturizing lotions and creams are on the market currently. Some creams are used when the skin is exceptionally dry. These creams can be applied on the wet body after bath and help retain the moisture in the body. Some creams can be applied after drying the body but immediately after taking a bath. These creams retain the remaining moisture in the body and do not allow it to escape soon after the bath.

Body oils can be used when chemical soaps dry the skin further. Body oil can be applied on the wet skin so the moisture is trapped and the skin does not dry too much.

Body lotions and creams can be either oil-based or water-based. Oil-based lotions can be used on parched or overtly dry skin. They help the body retain the lost oils and provide sufficient soothing for the irritation and itching. Creams and lotions that have a base of sunflower or other oils, can also be used in such cases. The thickness of the moisturizing cream depends on the water-oil ratio in the cream. However, it is important to understand that none of these creams or lotions has a long-lasting effect on the dry skin.

Most of the body lotions on the market these days claim to have vitamin E as one of the ingredients. This nourishes the skin and makes it soft and smooth. Water-based lotions used to soothe dry skin usually contain this vitamin base. Another important vitamin contained in most of these lotions is vitamin A. Sunscreen moisturizing lotions can be also used if the person gets exposed a lot to the sun.

Regular care needs to be taken to maintain a healthy glowing skin, especially if the skin has the tendency to be usually dry or flaky. The best remedy for dry skin is to take in an excess of water every day. This gives a healthy glow to the skin and helps the skin retain a sufficient amount of moisture through out the day. Lotions or creams have to be applied without fail to maintain a soft, smooth and healthy skin.

Drug Treatment Recovery Healing

My friend Susan was going on vacation for a month and asked me to substitute for her at the local drug rehab center at her Wednesday yoga and meditation class.

It truly was an experience I’ll never forget as I watched people’s bodies and minds relax. I was struck by the strong determination that was applied towards learning the different forms of breathing as well as various meditations. I think the
residents found it helpful to see they could channel the same drive they had used to locate drugs to their own healing.

It’s always good to use try and direct the natural tendencies you have for a higher purpose. For instance, an “addictive” personality can redirect this to areas such as meditation, exercise or writing a journal. This I have found is much better
than fighting with oneself and trying to “stop” one’s tendencies. This is one’s passion and it should be used for one’s evolution.

If you are taking yoga please keep in mind it’s not about competing with others but in “stretching ” yourself inwardly further than you thought you could go. If you can be patient when you hold a posture , that quality will also carry into daily life as well.

You also will develop tools you can use for stressful situations such as deep breathing, visualizations of your true potential and inner joy. Even if you only feel good for an hour
after doing some yoga or meditation , it is a center that grows and you can remember it when you become agitated around other residents or towards your parents.

Robin , a 20 year old, fighting prescription drug addiction said to me that she just wanted to ease the pain but realized that pain is a feeling she could watch. It really was wonderful to see the ability to watch one’s mind that the residents
developed with a little practice. In the east they refer to the mind as a drunken monkey- not just wandering from thought to thought, but a drunken monkey stung by a scorpion. Sometimes it seems so restless and jumpy , plus out of control. Take a
few moments to watch it and discover some true jewels.

Different Types Of Spas

Writen by Aurel Radulescu
We are usually willing to spend lots of money on clothes, food, traveling and luxuries of life. However, making a trip to the spa and spending money on the treatments available there is something we are rather reluctant to spend money on. The well being of our body is something that has to have a priority in life. So it is actually not a waste spending some money on the treatments in the spa if you are going to get refreshed and rejuvenated after the treatments.

A visit to a spa, even for just an afternoon for a simple massage gives amazing effects to our state of mind. We feel relaxed and happier and can face the hassles of life in a better way. So it is actually worth it making a trip to a spa at least in our lives. However, choosing the right spa for the right treatment proves to be a great task. You have to first have a target to reach for through the treatments in the spa. This is because there are different types of spas that cater to your different needs like relaxation, conditioning, rejuvenation, etc.

There are basically four types of spas. The first is the spa that caters to the wellness of the client. This is for people who have an eventful medical history and treatments are vested after discussions with the client’s licensed health care specialists. Most of the people visiting these spas for treatments are persons recovering from operations and people trying to quit smoking or alcohol. Treatments are administered to the patients according to the case.

The second type of spa is those that take the fitness of the client into consideration. They are specially designed for those who want to relax. Activities like aerobics and outdoor sports are provided here for better physical fitness and relaxation for the client. So this spa is better for the person who is more playful at heart. They enjoy this program because of the chance they are given of learning more activities in the spa.

The third type of spa is the holistic spa. The main reason people join this spa is to learn more about spirituality. This is the best place to head to for to learn more about self-realization. There are different meditation techniques taught here and these treatments come from different cultures and beliefs like the Chinese Tai Chi meditation.

The fourth and the more famous spa is the day spa. People who visit these spas are usually the ones who are more beauty-conscious. Making a visit to these spas gives the client an opportunity to beautify themselves and to relax themselves too. There are different types of treatments that are provided in the day spa that help to relax you and beautify you at the same time like mud packs, sauna baths, massages and yoga. In fact, the day spa is the place the bride and bridegroom head for a few days before the great day!

So making a visit to any form of a spa is greatly suggested. You feel withdrawn from the usual monotonous routine here in the spa, and greatly rejuvenated when you leave it!

Dietary Guideline USA

Writen by Rolf Rasmusson
Are you sick and tired of the confusion about our dietary guideline? Don’t do this, do that, no not this, lose weight this way and on and on. Too much fat, more of this and it goes on and on and on. Frankly, it’s enough to drive us all nuts. Turn off the TV, boot up the computer and take a real hard look at the new 2005 dietary guideline released recently.

Let’s face it… its not easy trying to manage our lives today with so much going on. Learning about food and diet is very time consuming but frankly it’s very necessary for the benefit of ourselves, family and our grandchildren.

It doesn’t take much to see we’ve got a real problem here. Seen many obese children lately? A total society where over 60% of the people are overweight? Come on give us a break here something’s gone astray and we’re not sure what to do about it.

It seems like every-time we turn our heads a new fad hits us right between the eyes.We struggle and shuffle with the hope that we’re on to something but to no avail. Boy do we learn from those expensive lessons.

Fortunately there is good news, simple easy, not expensive, and easy to understand. Finally, a report that makes sense and doesn’t cost you any money either. Things like fat, fiber, fruits, vegetables, calories, supplementation, and exercise all come together for you and your family.

Recently posted to the internet was the 2005 American version of the good things in our food life and what to do with it. A really simple way to get a grip on ourselves It’s called the dietary guideline and finally puts things to rest with a few simple steps.

Dentistry is the practical application of knowledge of dental science (the science of placement, arrangement, function of teeth) to human beings. A dentist is a professional practitioner of dentistry. A Dentist is skilled in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and malformations of the teeth, jaws, and mouth and who makes and inserts false teeth.

A Dentist is needed for correct most teeth conditions but there is a clear alternative to closing a tooth gap. So forget everything you’ve heard about closing gapped teeth. Because now there’s breakthrough technology that lets you closes your gap without bands, brackets or wires.

Teeth Gap has a product called Teeth Effects. By placing a Teeth Effect Band around the teeth with a gap will draw the teeth together; your gap will close right before your eyes. Your teeth will move, little by little, day by day, until your gap is closed. Teeth Effects are also removable so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss as usual.

Teeth Effect Bands are clear; most people won’t know you are straightening your teeth unless you tell them. After closing your gap you’ll also enjoy the added assurance of being able to express yourself with confidence, without being embarrassed or insecure about your teeth.

Amino Acid Health Benefits

Writen by Chester Ku-lea
AMINO ACIDS are the building blocks of the body. Besides building cells and repairing tissue, they form antibodies to combat invading bacteria & viruses; they are part of the enzyme & hormonal system; they build nucleoproteins (RNA & DNA); they carry oxygen throughout the body and participate in muscle activity. When protein is broken down by digestion the result is 22 known amino acids.

As the building blocks of protein, amino acids are vital to health. Next to water, amino acids in the form of proteins make up the greatest portion of our body weight. They comprise tendons, muscles and ligaments; organs and glands; hair and nails; important bodily fluids, and are a necessary part of every cell in the body.

There are over 20 amino acids, separated into two categories – essential and non-essential. Essential amino acids are those that cannot be manufactured by your body, hence, it is essential that you obtain them from your diet. Non-essential amino acids can be manufactured by your body, however, your body must have the right combination of essential amino acids and supporting nutrients to optimize healthy protein maintenance, so supplementation may be desirable. Twenty amino acids are needed to build the various proteins used in the growth, repair, and maintenance of body tissues. Eleven of these amino acids can be made by the body itself, while the other nine (called essential amino acids) must come from the diet. The essential amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Another amino acid, histidine, is considered semi-essential because the body does not always require dietary sources of it. The nonessential amino acids are arginine, alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine, and tyrosine. Other amino acids, such as carnitine, are used by the body in ways other than protein-building and are often used therapeutically.

Who is likely to be deficient?

Dieters, some strict vegetarian body builders, and anyone consuming an inadequate number of calories may not be consuming adequate amounts of amino acids. In these cases, the body will break down the protein in muscle tissue and use those amino acids to meet the needs of more important organs or will simply not build more muscle mass despite increasing exercise.

Amino acids are not only absolutely integral to life, but they can have a profound impact upon how clearly we think and how well we feel.

Benefits

• builds cells and repairs tissue

• assists with wound healing

• increases athletic performance

Alternatives In Mental Health

Writen by Pradeep Chadha
“Health” and “illness” are contrasting terms. They can be used in physical or in mental context. We know that physical exercise done on a regular basis keeps us healthy. Mental exercise also keeps us mentally healthy. Just like after doing physical exercise we need rest, after mental exercise the mind also needs rest. But we hear the term “physical rest” frequently. The term “mental rest” is rarely used. No doubt then that as mental activities have increased with industrialisation, stress has increased. This stress results from our inability to allow our mind to become inactive or relaxed for even a short time.

Some people believe that our brain becomes inactive when we sleep. If that were so then we should not have any dreams. Dreams are evidence that our mind remains active, even when we are asleep. This simply means that our mind is active 24 hours a day without any rest at all. Just imagine how our bodies would behave if we were to go through 24 hours of physical activity.

Although research may show that 30% of mental illness may occur without a trigger of stress, it also shows that a majority – 70% – of mental illnesses occur with stress. The research may have failed to look at the other 30%, mentally ill who may not be ‘acknowledging’ stress at a given moment. This gives us a pessimistic view of mental illnesses. We are made to believe that we can do nothing about them. We are also told that mental illnesses occur because of our genes, our upbringing, our personality, our temperament, our lifestyle and we can do nothing about them. Stress or no stress, we are told, if we have all these factors loaded in our personal history, we are prone to have a mental illness. Some psychiatrists adhere to this belief strongly. This belief is then put across authoritatively as the “gospel truth” of science. Naturally, this brings up a sense of low self-esteem and helplessness in the person who is suffering with the illness. We are then made to believe that medications are man-made answers to mental illness, which is a curse of nature.

Prayer, which was until recently considered unscientific, has now been shown to have beneficial effects on patients.1 Similarly, the current belief in psychiatry is that mental illnesses can be treated by medical professionals only and the person who is mentally ill has no control over their lives. The medical system works in a way in which the doctors themselves have limited choices other than prescribing drugs. The patient has no choices worth mentioning. From the legal perspective, a person who is mentally ill is considered not capable of taking any responsibility for their actions. This is one of the most unfortunate aspects of mental illnesses. People who are mentally ill also have a sense of responsibility in many areas of their lives.

The role of emotions in mental illnesses has been totally ignored by scientists. Yet researches do show that separation from mother,2 losses3 – including deaths,4 traumatic events, especially when they occur over the previous three months5 can trigger mental illnesses. What has been looked at is the history of such events in a person’s life. What is ignored is the emotional upheaval it causes in a person’s body and mind. Emotional expression ameliorates the effects of trauma.6 Repetitive upheavals in the body are simply not forgotten. Release of emotions by emotional expression explains the role of counselling and confession. We tend to believe, erroneously, that everything will settle with time. Things do settle with time – but not everything. It is these issues and their emotional effects, that cause mental illnesses and psychosomatic illnesses. It is obvious that whenever we undergo any emotional experience, our nervous and hormonal systems are shaken-up. The nervous system and the hormones together control the activities of various parts of the body. If the neurohormonal expression is allowed to go through completion, a physiological calmness occurs in the body. This has a scientific basis.7

For people who attend church regularly, a common experience is the sense of calmness on entering a church. Coupled with music, incense and sermons spoken in a low, soft tone, a sense of calmness dwells on the person. There is scientific evidence to suggest that going to church helps a person remain healthy.8 More interesting is the fact that there is little research to state that music or aromatherapy help to bring about mental health. Yet experience shows that they have a calming effect. Only recently have papers started to be published in scientific journals bridging the gap between spirituality and science.9 It has now been researched that people who are religious in orientation have a lower rate of strokes than those who are not religious.10

The whole area of mental illness is about losing a sense of freedom. When we find ourselves bound to emotional issues of our life, that we cannot rid ourselves of, we lose our freedom of thinking. This creates stress in our mind and our body bears the brunt of it. This loss of freedom brings up a sense of fear or a sense of helplessness. Both such feelings bring up a sense of insecurity. A person loses confidence in their own worth. Self-esteem becomes low. With lack of confidence and low self-esteem, comes poor decision-making. A person suffers with all these conditions when suffering with a mental illness. This changes the behaviour of the person. The behaviour is affected by the way the person feels and thinks. If the person feels fear for a long time, the chances of becoming phobic and paranoid increase. Withdrawal from social situations occurs. The family members observe the person to be unwell. Such a person is then asked to see a doctor. With the person’s self-esteem low, vulnerability increases. This does not mean however, that the person becomes totally irresponsible towards their own well-being. Many times the person wants to do ‘something’ to get better, but the health system has limited resources to offer much in terms of growth of the person, except medication. When a mentally ill person goes to seek help – confidence, self-esteem and sense of freedom are already lost. Instead of helping the person become independent, there is a tendency to make the person dependent on medication.

Medication plays its role in controlling the condition or state of illness. It does nothing to improve the quality of life permanently. To improve their quality of life, the person needs to take responsibility for their own well-being. This is encouraged in some of the organisations, which are being run by the sufferers themselves. GROW is an example of such an organisation. Are there any alternatives to medication in mental conditions? A doctor can only prescribe drugs to “control” the mental condition. The current trend in some other parts of the world is to encourage people suffering with mental illnesses to take responsibility for their own well-being, along with medication. Psychotherapy11 and self-help is encouraged. The usage of medication in such situations is minimised or eliminated.

In psychiatry, we know that the suicide rate among physicians is higher than in the general population and psychiatrists are at a greater risk among physicians, than other specialists.12 Research shows that psychotherapy is more economical than medication alone in treating mental illness.13 Conditions like schizophrenia are also being treated without medication in some parts of the world.14 It is also a known fact that the more positive the attitude we have, the more balanced are the chemicals in our body.15 This would be more acceptable for those who see the positive role of religion on mental health. Some authors have suggested that the medicine of the future is going to be “prayer and Prozac.”16 Mental health is a preventative activity. Do we need to suffer first before we take steps to deal with it? If we could only assume responsibility for our own mental health, we may not have to suffer. The best medicine in this case is certainly prevention.

We live in a free society. The freedom to suffer is also one kind of freedom. We also have the freedom to look for answers to minimise our suffering.

Do you suffer with one of the many health problems out there? Are you getting fed up with the traditional forms of health treatment? Are you looking into the different forms of alternative health therapy that are available? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, this article may be of interest to you. In the article, I am going to write about some of these alternative therapy treatments which I, my family and friends have tried in the past. I hope you enjoy the read.

My wife has had many problems with her own health and also suffers from regular bouts of depression. She is quite a stressful person and at times finds life to be fairly tough. A couple of years ago she decided to find a different approach to ones she had previously tried. The first option she tried was reflexology. She was not entirely sure if she really wanted a stranger messing about with her feet but was more than pleased with the experience on her return. She could not believe how relaxed and chilled out it made her feel.

I have also found myself struggling to cope with the pressures of every day life. I now have turned my hand to meditation. This is not I am sure for everyone but it has certainly helped me to think in a more positive and clearer way. It took me quite a long to meditate in what would be known as the correct way as I originally could not seem to concentrate or relax enough.

My mother prefers to go to a womens wellness centre rather than to the doctors. She has not spoken too much about this to me but it obviously helps her as she has now been going there for years.

Tai chi is a very popular form of alternative therapy for many people. Tai chi is also very good at reducing peoples stress levels and is something I also considered before I took up meditation.

A friend of mine always raves on about yoga and the many health benefits that this has bought her. To me it all seems like a lot of hard work, however she insists that it isn’t. In a way these things are like horses for courses. Some people prefer to do one thing and others prefer to do something entirely different.

My brother who also finds it hard to relax, it must run in my family I suppose, has found hypnotherapy to be very useful. He has been a smoker for many years and two years ago decided it was time to quit. He was very determined, which helps of course but by attending hypnotherapy sessions, also gave him that extra edge. He, from what he tells me has not smoked even one cigarette for the past eighteen months.

These are just a small number of the many alternative health treatments out there. It is worth pointing out that even though they have been successful in helping the above people, they may not work for everyone. In my opinion it is worth giving different things a try as it may just change your life.

Aloe Vera Skin Care

Writen by Kevin Pederson
1. Silky Aloe Vera Skin Care Body Lotion

1 cup Aloe Vera gel 1-teaspoon lanolin 1 teaspoon Vitamin E oil 1/3-cup coconut oil 1/2 to 3/4 ounce beeswax 3/4 cup almond oil 1 ฝ teaspoons essential oil Use a blender (or food processor) to mix the Aloe Vera gel, lanolin, & vitamin E oil. Microwave coconut oil & beeswax in a glass container on high 30 seconds, and stir. Repeat heating in 10-second blocks until fully melted. Stir in almond oil, reheating if necessary. Run blender or processor at low to medium speed, and then pour in melted oils in thin stream. As the oil is blended in, the cream will turn white and blender’s motor will start to grind. As soon as melted oils are added and you’ve achieved mayonnaise-like consistency, stop the blender; add essential oil and pulse-blend. Do not over blend. Transfer cream to glass jars while still warm – the lotion will thicken quickly. This lotion really absorbs well and leaves no residue on skin. This recipe makes two cups.

2. Oats & Aloe Vera Exfoliant for your skin

1 tablespoon finely ground oats 1 tablespoon finely ground almonds 1-teaspoon honey 1-tablespoon Aloe Vera gel Combine ingredients in a bowl and stir until well mixed. Apply to face and neck skin after cleansing and before toner is applied, using gentle circular motions. Rinse well with warm water and gently pat excess moisture from face. Follow with facial mask.

3. Aloe Vera Face Mask for Healing and Soothing

(Great for sensitive and dry skin, especially after sun bathing) Ingredients: -3 TBS pure and certified organic aloe Vera juice -1 drop Helycrisum essential oil -1 drop Rose essential oil Combine all ingredients and apply mixture evenly on face and neck. Leave it on for at least 7 minutes and rinse with warm water. Pat dry, and apply the following “healing and soothing” aromatic blend, prepared in advance in a 10-ml bottle filled with vegetable oil: -1 drop Neroli essential oil -3 drops Lavender essential oil

4. Aloe Vera Skin Toner

Soak a cotton pad with pure aloe Vera gel and use it to freshen your skin and remove excess oil. Use daily, following with moisturizer. This is especially good for normal and oily skin and is a great overall toner. Dilute the gel 50/50 with spring water if you have sensitive skin. You can also use the juice of a leaf from your aloe plant. Cut off the amount you are going to use, and put the remainder of the leaf in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. The leaf will keep for about 3 days.

5. Floral Aloe Vera Gel

1/2 cup Aloe Vera gel (available in most natural food stores) 1 tbsp. dried lavender flowers or 3 tbsp. fresh. 1 tbsp. dried calendula flowers or 3 tbsp. fresh. 1. Mix together the aloe Vera gel with the lavender and Calendula flowers in an ovenproof glass container, then heat the container gently by sitting it in a hot water bath on the stovetop. 2. Let the mixture cool completely, and then pour it through a clean, fine strainer (to remove all of the solids) into a clean container.

6. Exfoliating Foot Mask

1/2-cup oatmeal 1/2-cup cornmeal 1/2-cup coarse salt 1/2 cup unscented body lotion 4 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel in a large bowl, combine all ingredients. Slide feet into mixture and rub, beginning at toes, working up to heel and ankle. Do one foot at a time, rinsing in a separate bowl of warm water.

7. Exfoliating Aloe Vera Face Mask

4 Tbsp. Pumpkin puree 1 Tbsp. Honey 4 tsp. Cornmeal 2 tsp. Aloe Vera gel 2 tsp. Pineapple, diced 1 tsp. Green tea 1/2 tsp. Sunflower oil 6 drops frankincense essential oil (optional) 4 drops cinnamon extract (optional) Directions Steep green tea in boiling water. Set aside to cool. In blender or food processor puree pineapple and place in medium-sized mixing bowl. Add pumpkin, honey and aloe. Mix well. Stir in sunflower oil, green tea and cornmeal. Discard the remaining green tea. Add frankincense and cinnamon. Stir. Apply small amount of pumpkin mask to cheeks, forehead, chin and neck. Massage in circular motions gently buffing skin. Repeat. Apply more product as needed. Leave a thin layer of pumpkin mask on face and neck for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with tepid or cool water and pat dry with soft towel. Follow with appropriate moisturizer. Store remaining mask covered in refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Benefits: Pumpkin enzymes dissolve dead skin cells while the cornmeal sweeps them clean. Honey has antimicrobial properties as well as moisturizes and softens. The result is a beautiful glowing complexion. Use this mask as often as you like.

Aloe Vera – A Miracle Plant

Writen by William Berg
The Aloe vera plant is an African succulent that is popular in folk remedies. Today, you can find Aloe vera outside Africa since it is a popular garden plant, especially in dry areas where gardens must be created with the climate in mind. Aloe vera is also commercially cultivated all over the world to be used in folk medicines. Outside Africa, you will find the largest Aloe vera farms in the Mediterranean region, the United States, the Caribbean and Japan. An Aloe vera plant will also do well indoors, but keep in mind that it can grow very large and need re-potting.

Just like all the other succulent plants, the Aloe vera can store large amounts of water. This is an adaptation to a life in regions susceptible to droughts. Wild Aloe vera is commonly found in regions that experience large temperature differences between day and night. When the dew falls, the Aloe vera can absorb the moist and use it to survive. The Aloe vera will store water in its large fleshy leaves. Inside an Aloe vera leaf, you will find a clear jellylike liquid. This liquid forms the base of the Aloe vera juice that is so popular in folk medicine. If you grow your own Aloe vera plant, you can use the gel directly instead of converting it into Aloe vera juice. The gel is for instance used on minor injuries and burns since many people find it soothing and pain relieving. It also has antibacterial properties.

Aloe vera can also be used internally, but the scientific studies regarding its affects on the human body is still limited and internal Aloe vera treatments should therefore always be embarked on with caution. Discussing the treatment with a licenses medical professional is recommended. Internal Aloe vera treatment is popular among patients suffering from heartburn, ulcers, diverticular disorders and other digestive problems. It is suspected that the antibacterial property of the Aloe vera is the cause of the relief reported by many patients.

In commercially available Aloe vera remedies, it is usually Aloe vera juice that forms the active ingredient. If you by low-quality Aloe vera remedies, they might not have been made from pure Aloe vera juice. If other parts of the plant enter the remedy, the treatment can act as a strong laxative. This effect is cause by the so called Aloe vera latex that is located in special cells, the so called pericyclic tubules, which are found along the inner skin of the Aloe vera leaf. Proper processing methods are necessary to ensure that no latex enter the Aloe vera juice. If you experience unwanted laxative effects or cramps when using medications containing Aloe vera, you should refrain from using it and try to find a better manufacturer that can provide you with high-quality Aloe vera products.

Never use Aloe vera internally if you are currently using oral corticosteroids, since Aloe vera will interact with this medication. Beclomethasone, Prednisone and Methylprednisolone are three common examples of oral corticosteroids. The combination can cause potassium deficiency and poisoning.

Psyllium will also be affected by the active compounds in Aloe vera, and combining the two remedies are therefore unadvisable. If you still choose to do so, you should make sure that you never ingest them simultaneously. Allow at least two hours to pass before you take the second drug.

Read more about the Aloe vera plant and the Aloe vera juice that is extracted from it to be used in beaty and health products.

Aloe and Blood Sugar

Writen by Steven Godlewski
Inside of every ones blood there are sugar levels that need to be at certain amounts each day and all day. When the amount of blood sugar is low in some one they can experience irritability, weakness, fatigue, head aches, shakes, jitters, and uncontrollable hunger.

When blood sugar levels get too high our body makes insulin. Blood sugar is not something you can play around with, it can affect your entire body, and if it gets low enough you could have a real problem on your hands.

Aloe has been used in studies of blood sugar and has yet again come out with good responses. Studies have been run and research has been done, aloe vera can help with blood sugar levels.

Today over half of our population is over weight. There are also more cases of diabetics. These two problems are caused by blood sugar levels, and are also some of our most dangerous problems. When blood sugar levels are balanced, we have more energy to exercise.

We also find that we don’t feel as sluggish and lazy feeling when our blood sugar levels are up. Keeping a balanced blood sugar level is important for our health, and aloe is capable of doing so. The minerals and trace elements in aloe are being used more and more for problems in the body.

Aloe contains the right minerals, trace elements, and vitamins to help control blood sugar levels. What one study did, was when a diabetic took their medicine, they also took a spoon full of aloe juice with it, while this diabetic did this, another one took nothing but his medicine.

The diabetic who had taken the spoon full of aloe juice had a balanced blood sugar level, while the person who took nothing but the medicine experienced lower blood sugar.

Some Information on Aloe Vera

Aloe has a long history as a remedy for many different ailments. Commonly known as Aloe Vera, the plant can be separated into two basic products: gel and latex. Aloe Vera gel is the leaf pulp or juice, a thin clear jelly-like substance obtained from the leaf that makes up the inner portion of the leaves.

The gel contains carbohydrate polymers, plus various other organic and inorganic compounds. Aloe latex, commonly referred to as “aloe juice,” is a yellow extract from the pericyclic tubules just beneath the outer skin of the leaves. For use as a laxative, the juice is often dried to produce aloe granules that are dark brown from exposure to the air.

The separation process is not always complete, so aloe latex can be found in some aloe gels. It is better to make the gel as pure as possible, because aloe latex contains some things that are used for strong laxatives.

The processed Aloe is difficult to keep stable, a problem that can cause differences in potency. The best source of aloe gel would be right from a broken leaf of the plant.

Aloe gel has been used for treatment of wounds, minor burns, and skin irritations. Most consumers are familiar with aloe’s use in skin-care products, but aloe can also be used as a drink.

Aloe products for internal use have been used for constipation, coughs, wounds, ulcers, diabetes, cancer, headaches, arthritis, and many other conditions. Aloe has been used for all different types of things through out the years, and is now sold openly on the market. People who buy Aloe normally know exactly what they are going to use it for, and some just buy it to be safe.

Aloe is now one of the few plants that can cure so many different ailments that can be found on the surface of the earth.

Alcohol Detoxification

Writen by Sandra Kim Leong
If you love someone who is an alcoholic, or you are struggling with your own alcohol problem, you may be interested in the process of alcohol detoxification. Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can range from uncomfortable to life threatening, depending on the severity of the addiction, and detoxification can help with this process.

Alcohol detoxification is simply eliminating alcohol from the body and providing medical assistance for the symptoms of withdrawal that accompany this process. Medical professionals will generally prescribe a limited course of treatment with one of several drugs developed for this purpose. The most common is called Chlordiazepoxide. While I do not like the use of drugs in most cases, I do concede that in certain instances, such as this, they can be extremely helpful and effective in helping someone to recover from a harmful addiction.

The treatment will usually last about a week. The dosage is highest on the first day, with declining amounts on the following days. This allows the highest dosage to be used at the time when the effects of withdrawal are strongest. Close supervision by a medical professional is usually required, and the patient must agree to discontinue all alcohol use during the treatment time.

Without treatment, an alcoholic who suddenly discontinues the use of alcohol can experience mild symptoms like sweating, cravings for alcohol and trembling. More severe withdrawal symptoms can include delirium tremens, hallucinations and even convulsions in a small percentage of patients. The detoxification drugs help the body eliminate alcohol and limit these uncomfortable and sometimes dangerous symptoms.

With the use of drugs like Chlordiazepoxide, withdrawal is less dangerous and more comfortable than it would be without medicine. Most users still experience some trouble sleeping, nervousness and irritability, though.

Detoxification only addresses the physical issues of alcoholism, though, and many professional endorse a combined therapy that includes counseling or a 12 step program to follow the detoxification process. Most contend that the cravings for alcohol, both physical and psychological, will remain long after it is out of the system. Counseling and continued treatment is required to help the patient change their attitudes and resist returning to alcohol use.

In addition to counseling and support, there are several drugs that may be prescribed to help avoid a relapse and make recovery easier. Acamprosate helps reduce cravings and another drug, Disulfiram, will make the user sick if they ingest alcohol.

There is no shame in asking for assistance with an alcohol problem. Most family doctors and counselors can prescribe the detoxification treatment or make the appropriate referrals. Take advantage of the assistance available; recovering from alcoholism is an often difficult road.

Using the help available can be the difference between recovery and relapse, so ask your healthcare professional about detoxification programs today.

A Guide To Fish Oil Supplements

Writen by Dan Ho
Fish oil supplements are an important dietary supplement, because they provide essential omega-3 fatty acids, which the majority of people in the Western world are deficient in.

Omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial for the maintenance and function of the brain. They may help prevent heart disease and may ensure a normal heart rate and coronary blood flow. A daily fish oil supplement may also have a beneficial effect on blood pressure and can lower blood triglyceride levels. High levels of triglyceride and cholesterol in the blood stream may lead to the development of atherosclerosis, heart disease and stroke.

Studies by the National Institutes of Health concluded that daily fish oil supplements can reduce joint tenderness in arthritis patients.

The body uses omega-3 fatty acids to produce eicosanoids. Eicosanoids regulate cell division and growth. They regulate muscle activity and blood clotting. They allow the cells to absorb calcium and other needed substances. A daily fish oil supplement, which provides omega-3s, is important to many bodily functions. Years ago, cod liver oil was taken in liquid form as a dietary supplement. Cod liver oil tastes and smells awfu;, today’s fish oil supplements are generally in capsule form and are odorless and tasteless.

Fish oil supplements are particularly important to the average American diet, because most Americans do not eat enough fish. Even when a person eats fish three to five times per week, many doctors still recommend a fish oil supplement. The body does not produce omega-3 fatty acids and so they must be obtained from a food source. Leafy green vegetables and flaxseed oil, other sources of omega-3s, do not compose a large portion of the American diet either, so a fish oil supplement is the best option.

It is still advisable to try to eat more fish and leafy greens, but busy people do not always eat what they should. Fish oil supplements provide a small safety net, especially since eating fish can introduce mercury, PCB’s, and other toxins into the system because most fish is tainted due to pollution. A high quality fish oil should be molecularly distilled to remove contaminants, leaving you with the benefits of fish without the drawbacks.

A fish oil supplement may also relieve constipation without using a laxative, which can have unwanted side effects. The only known side effect associated with fish oil supplements is diarrhea, which can be relieved by reducing the dosage. However, since fish oil is a blood thinner, you should consult with your doctor if you are already taking any blood thinners like aspirin, etc.

Consumers should look for pharmaceutical grade fish oil or another indication that the fish oil is purified when purchasing a fish oil supplement. We absorb enough impurities through our skin, the food we eat and the air we breathe. We do not need them in our fish oil supplements.

Find out the fish oil supplements we take ourselves after doing extensive research on products. A pharmaceutical grade, molecularly distilled fish oil naturally high in DHA and EPA can be found at: http://www.omega-3-fish-oil-guide.com

A Guide to Female Hair Loss

Writen by Josh Riverside
Hair loss usually occurs because of hormonal factors. As a consequence, biological events like puberty, pregnancy and menopause that effect female hormone levels can also cause female hair loss. In the case of pregnancy, hair loss is simply a consequence of the stress the body undergoes during labor and should stop approximately 6 months after birth. Discontinuation of taking birth control pills can also cause temporary female hair loss.

The most common type of female hair loss is androgenetic alopecia or female-pattern baldness. This type of hair loss is associated with hair thinning predominantly over the sides and top of the head. Female hair loss affects about one-third of all susceptible women and usually onsets after menopause although it can begin earlier.

Other causes of female hair loss include dieting. Rapid weight loss over a short period of time promotes hair loss and some supplements such as excessive vitamin A also contribute to hair loss. Physical and emotional stress can cause hair loss but this usually only occurs when the trauma is excessive and of a long duration. Everyday stress does not promote hair loss.

Some common myths related to female hair loss are that frequent washing and shampooing, and wearing of wigs and hats all cause hair loss. In addition, rumors abound that permanents, coloring, and other cosmetic treatments can cause permanent hair loss. Other myths are that brushing your hair everyday will create healthier hair, that shaving your head will cause hair to grow back thicker, and that stress causes permanent hair loss. Finally, other myths are that there is a cure for female-pattern baldness and that dandruff causes permanent hair loss.

These are just a few common myths associated with female hair loss. If you experience excessive hair loss, you should see a licensed dermatologist for a thorough diagnosis and treatment options.

A Fruitful Skin Renewal

Writen by Jane Simpson
Imagine browsing through skin care aisles and finding that one, perfect product that boasts of all-natural ingredients. Serendipity, right? Then you go and read the label expecting to find a virtual salad but instead finding yourself reading benzoic acid, butyl stearate, and some totally unpronounceable names. You’re no botanist but you’re sure that those stuff don’t grow on trees. This is because most commercial items meant for skin care nowadays contain preservatives and other chemicals to maintain their consistency and shelf life. Problem is, most of these chemicals can actually irritate more sensitive skin.

What solution is there for this kind of crisis? Simple. Mix your own, homemade skin care line. There’s nothing to it as most ingredients are found in your fridge or fruit basket. All-natural skin recipes are easily found in the Internet or even in magazines. Usually, these skin care mixes are composed of a combination of one or two fruits. Combinations like these can include either the fruit pulp, fruit juice, or both. Milk, water or honey are usually added to smoothen the mixture. Add-ons such as oatmeal, wheat germ, brown sugar, and dried herbs are also included for more specialized concoctions such as a pimple treatment, flaking, and oily skin.

Skin care using natural ingredients offers great variety. There are facial cleansers, scrubs, moisturizing creams, and face masks. Don’t worry because indications for use are usually found with the recipes. The recipes indicate whether the mixture is for normal, dry, oily, sensitive, and acne-prone skin. Some are even more specialized as blackhead removers or whitening solutions.

Natural skin care routine have many advantages. First, the ingredients are easily available and the choices are great. They are also natural, thus, greatly reducing risks of allergies or skin irritations. Second, the ingredients are cheap, which translates into more savings more you. Third, you can modify the recipes to suit your needs. Since the risks for irritations are minimal, experimentations are relatively safe. Fourth, vitamins and antioxidants are naturally found in fruits, while milk and honey have restorative properties. Therefore, you get the same vitamins found in commercial products while limiting or eradicating chemicals.

As these skin care recipes use natural ingredients they require refrigeration and can only keep for a week. However, it is better to make these in small quantities or batches for immediate use. In addition, these recipes contain natural hydroxy acids and vitamins for direct and instant skin rejuvenation. Also, don’t forget to keep fit by exercising, having a balanced, healthy diet and regular sleep. With these pre-requisites and your new skin care solutions, you’re on your way to having the healthy skin that can top what science can offer. Now, that’s what you call natural.

Aerobic Benefit:

The word ‘aerobic’ means “with oxygen”. Researchers consistently recommend that regular physical activity with healthy eating habits is the most efficient way to keep yourself fit and control your body weight. Aerobic activity helps you to control or reduce your weight by using excess calories that otherwise would be stored as fat. Everything you do uses the calories including sleeping, digesting food and breathing. Any physical activity to what you normally do will use extra calories. So doing regular aerobic exercise gives you a sense of positive attitude that helps to counteract stress. Aerobic activity increases the body’s production of endorphins.

Benefits of aerobics:

* The heart works more efficient and becomes more stronger

* It helps to control your weight.

* Reduces the risk in developing diabetes, obesity and any heart disease.

* There is an increase in good cholesterol and decrease in bad cholesterol.

* It increases endorphins.

* Increases the body’s ability to take in oxygen and makes you breathe faster.

* It helps to reduce and control the body fat.

* Improves the body muscle strength and flexibility.

* Improves the quality of sleep that freshens you early next morning.

* Helps to avoid chronic diseases like heart disease and hypertension.

* Aerobics increases the resistance fatigue and gives you more energy.

* Improves your mood and reduces depression, stress and anxiety.

* It avoids overheating.

* Aerobics pumps the blood faster and more forcefully.

* Helps in prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

* Builds the muscular strength and makes your body more flexible.

* Helps to reduce blood pressure.

* Prevents from certain types of cancer also.

In short aerobics burns your fat. Aerobics makes you live longer and live healthier and happier.

It builds up a positive attitude in you and changes your perception of looking towards life.

Regular aerobic exercises will force the heart to gradually enlarge and it is important to always target your heart rate.

Here safety is first:

Vigorous aerobic routine can cause sprains and injuries. So never neglect the pain and immediately consult your doctor. If you have any medical concerns the consult your doctor and then start the routine. If a problem like dizziness, vomiting, back pain or any other arises consult your doctor and then continue the aerobic activity.

Aerobic history: “Origin of the way ending in a fit and healthy world”

Aerobics is nothing but a system of exercises to help prevent coronary artery diseases which was first put forwarded by a physician called Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper in San Antonio air force hospital in Texas. Shortly after the publishing of cooper’s book about the exercise system, Aerobics in 1968, a person known as Jackie Sorenson developed a series of dance routines known as the aerobic dance to considerably improve the cardiovascular fitness. In this way aerobic dance and other form of exercises gain existence and made its way cautiously among the masses all over United States and many other counties and that too in a very short span of around two decades. The number of aerobics participant in the US alone raises from an estimated 6 million in 1978 to 19 million in 1987. Thus from the above lines one can easily see the tremendous popularity of aerobics among the people around the world.

Something about sportaerobics

Howard and Karen Schwartz are the two persons who developed a very new and competitive sport known as sportaerobics in the year 1983. Their group organization called the sport fitness international holds the credit of organizing the first national aerobic championship in the year 1984. Sportaerobics at the beginning, started featuring competition in four categories namely individual male and female, mixed pairs and trio which have the facility to include any of the three athletes. In the year 2002 the competition was upgraded to a group of six athletes. The judgment of the competitors is done on a one minute, forty-five seconds routine done to music. Judges choose two criteria namely the artistic merit and the technical merit with an overall 10 pints each. In 1996 sportaerobics is formally adopted as a Gymnastique discipline.

Growth of aerobics since the early years

Aerobics since the day of its introduction is growing at a tedious pace. All sorts of people are finding aerobics to be convenient and helpful in maintaining a fit and healthy body structure. Today the present scenario is such that every person in between a heavy work schedule makes out atleast half an hour to work out either in the gym or in the home. Every one today stress on the need to stay healthy and hence aerobics and all its form of exercises are rapidly gaining popularity.

Advice – How to Quit Smoking – Part 2

Writen by Tyler D Falls
Day 1 The first craving you have for a smoke, wait 1 hour before you let yourself have it. What I mean is, when your about to go out for your first smoke, wait for at least a hour. Go as long as you can if you can go longer. If you are at work, try and wait for your next coffee break or lunch break. So you should go as long as you possible can before having your first smoke. Then I am sure you need to give in, so go ahead, and don’t feel bad, it’s going to take time.

Day 2 Repeated day 1, but try for an extra hour.

- Do this until you go the first 8 hours of the day without having a smoke? If you try for a bit longer each and everyday, you should be able to do this in 7 – 10 days. One thing to remember is that you should keep this up until you only have 5 smokes or less in the last half of the day.

- By now, you should be looking forward to your first smoke, but you should feel good about cutting your smoking habits down by half if not more. Remember you should not binge smoke once you have your first, keep it under 5 smokes after that, until you go to sleep.

- Keep this routine until you have gone a steady 2 weeks. If you’re having trouble, use 1 or 2 of the natural remedies below.

- Now here comes the part where you flip everything around. Now in the morning when you get up, the first chance you get, have a smoke. You may notice it’s not the same; maybe you don’t enjoy it as much either. This is good! If you did this correctly you shouldn’t enjoy it as much as you were enjoying the smoke at the end of the day. Now go the whole day without having a smoke, and have a few in the evening before you go to bed.

- Do this until you can have one smoke in the mooring, and 2 smokes in the evening for a total of 3 smokes a day. Do this for a solid week and if you screw up try again. You have to do this for a SOILD WEEK! ONLY 3 SMOKES! You can do it! If you’re having trouble, use 1 or 2 of the natural remedies below.

- Now you’re going to get up in the morning, and want your smoke, but you’re not going to have it, you’re going to have 1 today, only 1! You pick when you want it, but DO NOT CHEAT! ONLY 1! You can do it!

- Keep doing this until you are only having one smoke a day for at least 2 weeks. YES 2 weeks! And every time you cheat, you start all over again. If you’re finding this difficult, you can try 1 to 3 of the natural remedies in the list below to help you get dependant on only one smoke. You still get your smoke, but you’re only having one! So choose when to have it wisely!

- YOU’V Done IT! If you’ve gone 2 whole weeks with only having 1 smoke a day. You’re inches away from never wanting a smoke again. The final step is obvious. Choose 2 to 4 natural remedies from the list below, and don’t have that smoke. Think back to when you quit your bad habit, remember your mind set, and think how much your going to improve your health, your confidence, your will power and your entire life by making this step. Besides, what good is that one smoke a day anyways? Its not even worth it is it? You probably were thinking the whole time you were only having one a day that you might as well just not have it at all. Your natural remedies are enough for you, your body is cheering you on, and it loves you! Your mind is stronger than ever! You ARE ALMOST THERE DO NOT GIVE INTO TEMPTAION! Other smokers are jealous of you because your better than the nicotine, your better than the addiction, you have conquered it………..almost.

- Keep going until you don’t need the natural remedies anymore. BINGO your smoke free, threes no need to smoke anymore. Why would you go crawling back after all of that work? Stay strong! You’re a fighter! And you’ve done well. You should be EXTREAMLY PROUD OF YOURSELF! Walk with your head held high! Smile! CHEER! YOU DID IT!

*Tips! – Don’t put yourself in positions that will make you want to smoke. Don’t take breaks with smokers. Don’t drink because that often makes you want to smoke more. Don’t substitute food for smoking. Don’t talk about smoking. Ask people who are smoking around you if they wouldn’t or would go somewhere else. Don’t be afraid to tell people you are trying to quit smoking and you need all the support you can get. Get your friends, and family involved. STAY POSITIVE!

Other Stop Smoking Tips ;

1. Analyze your habit for a few weeks, keep a log of when, where, and why you use tobacco.

2. List the reasons you want to quit.

3. Find substitutes like gum, or a pencil to hold.

4. Reward your resolve. Treat yourself with the money you would have spent on your habit.

5. Enjoy your food, and eat as much low-calorie food as you want when you are trying to quit.

6. Never let relapse deter you from continuing your efforts to quit.

Advice – How to Quit Smoking – Part 1

Writen by Tyler D Falls
Nicotine is an addictive drug found in tobacco.

The first part of this article is my personal opinion, please do not become offended.

We all know the harmful long term and short term side effects of tobacco. Tobacco companies themselves warn us on the packages that their product is the leading cause of death in North America. Yet they continue to market it and the government makes too much money off the sales of tobacco to ever de-legalize it. The sad truth is the government cares more about money then they will ever care about our health.

Smokers, who started in the past 10 years when it was publicly known how harmful smoking was, created their own pain. Everyone in this world has the ability to make decisions, and the decision not to smoke should be an easy one to make. Now not everyone was smart enough to make the decision in the first place, but many come to realize the mistake years down the road. Those people often say things like “I WISH I could quit” or “I WISH I never started smoking” These types of statements are weak minded statements, and it’s obvious that these were the same people who made the stupid mistake in the first place.

I know all the medical information about addictions. I realize how they work, and how powerful they can be. I know nicotine, like other addictive drugs, creates a chemical dependency, so that the body develops a “need” for certain levels of nicotine at all times. If this level is not maintained the body will go thru withdrawal. Withdrawal from nicotine can be as serious as withdrawal from cocaine but what people need to realize is that withdrawal from nicotine never killed anyone. So withdrawal is probably better for you then smoking in the first place. Your body obviously doesn’t “need” the smoke it just wants it so it doesn’t have to go thru withdrawals.

People who say they “need” a smoke should probably just go ahead and have it anyways. Most of us know what the necessities for life are, and smoking is defiantly not one of them. This just goes to show what state of mind some smokers have. People should be saying “I want a smoke”, this is the first step to quitting believe it or not. Realizing that you do not “need” a smoke is the key; from here you can make the next changes to your attitude.

The next step is to know that EVERYONE can quit! I don’t care if you’ve been addicted to heroin, speed and crack for 30 years, you can still quit! People don’t realize a positive attitude is the key to achieving anything. If you don’t think in your mind that you can quit, you never will, and you might as well stop reading, and have a smoke. Those who are ready to believe that they have it in them to quit, let’s continue.

After realizing you don’t “need” a smoke and that it IS possible for you to quit, the third step is to practice quitting something less addictive. This works on self control, and confidence. So pick a bad habit or useless activity such as staring mindlessly at the TV for hours every night, and stop! Give it up for 4 weeks. Some other examples are, biting nails, cracking your knuckles, swearing, eating junk food, eating fast food, drinking, spending money on useless stuff, and masturbating excessively. Just about any compulsive action that you might do that is potentially harmful to your health that you don’t “need” to survive is acceptable. Choose one that you think you can give up for month. Now remember, this is used to quit smoking, so this excersise WILL NOT work if you smoke as a substitute. You must continue your regular smoking habits or even try slowing them down to prepare for the quitting faze.

If you picked a bad habit to break and did it for a solid month, you should no longer feel a “need” for it. You may still think about it, you may still even want it, but you are strong enough to say NO! If you did this correctly, you should feel good about yourself, you should feel confident, and you are now ready for the next step.

Here comes the hard part, but you know you are ready, you can do anything! Stay Positive! Go to your doctor, tell him you are about to quit smoking, tell him the steps you have done already and that you are ready to make the commitment. He should be able to give you some advice and help you get started. Don’t use the patch or gum yet! Before you go ahead and do anything, try following these steps.

Writen by Allen Martin
Many people find that after a few weeks, the gains they
make on creatine monohydrate begin to taper off or even
disappear altogether. There’s an increasing belief among
hardcore trainers that cycling creatine intake may help
one experience continued progress with this proven
supplement.

Here’s a typical creatine cycle you might try adding to
your supplement program:

week 1: load (20 g / day)

week 2-4 : maintenance (10 g / day)

week 5: load (20 g / day)

week 6-8: OFF

Repeat Cycle.

You’re basically “on” for 5 weeks (higher than average
doses), then “off” completely for 3 weeks. This seems to
work well and can help give you continual progress with
creatine supplementation.

Of course, another important factor is what type of
creatine you’re using. I never made great gains with
creatine until I switched to a creatine formula as opposed
to just mixing the powder up myself.

In particular, AST’s Creatine HSC has really worked well
for me. Other people see good results with EAS’s
Phosphagen HP and MET-Rx’s Micronized Creatine. And at 10
grams creatine per dose, MuscleTech’s Cell-Tech is very
popular.

With creatine it’s best to avoid generic powders (the
cheap stuff), as its purity is often in question and it
doesn’t seem to work nearly as well as the quality
formulas on the market.

Acupuncture is an very old Chinese medical style. In essence, acupuncture means stimulating certain particles of the biped body in rule to archive specific outputs. The procedure includes penetrating the skin with thin needles.

Acupuncture is used for various reasons – from stimulating the fertility of women to pain relief and osteoarthritis. Nowadays acupuncture stop smoking is a widely used practice that (according most who have tried it) gives very positive results.

If you are eager to try acupuncture stop smoking programs, first you need to be sure you have found a licensed acupuncture practitioner. Your doctor should be able to hand over you to a know onions and experienced acupuncturist. You can also checkup at the national acupuncture runnings such as the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The best option is to find a person who has proper medical cultivation, as he is likely to better asses your medical reputation and required treatment. After you have plant an acupuncturist, ask for references from previous cases.

The usual places of your body where acupuncture will be done are your ears. The feeling is not painful and most people find it relaxing. Acupuncture is safe as long as useful needles are used. Of utmost denotation is the needles used to be decontaminated to avert impurities. Acupuncture stop smoking programs should result into reduced carvings and reduced level of withdrawal features. Some people fuse acupuncture sessions with hypnosis as these two methods rendition really good cessation outcomes.

Normally your acupuncturist will ask you divers questions over your first flap. He will try to gain a full picture of your health, lifestyle, behavior and the desired final solutions. Based on the dossier provided (it is vital that you are honest and do not hide any medical complications you have had or currently have as well as any treatments or medications you are taking) he will asses your condition and inform you how many sessions you will need. A good therapist will keep you informed about the progress you are making. Your acupuncture stop smoking line-up may be refined for a few days or continue for a couple of weeks.

Acupuncture prices may vary but the good news is that (in most or the cases) it is integumented by your fitness strategy. If you are not sure about this, check with your insurance company. Todays alternative of acupuncture stop smoking systems is the laser treatment. It works on the same principle as acupuncture – specific points of your body are stimulated with the use of a low-level laser.

Obesity is a state of being obese, or overweight due to excessive accumulation of fat. The love for junk food and lethargy has played a great part in spreading this disease. Nowadays, not only adults but also children are suffering from the problem of excessive weight.

Some of the effective remedies for weight loss include exercise, yoga, crash diet and acupuncture.

In the recent years, acupuncture has gained wide acclaim as an effective therapy to control and lose excess weight. Acupuncture is a healing system that was developed in china some 2,500 years ago. Acupuncture was introduced in America in the late 1800s. Since than it has been used as an alternative medicine to treat a wide range of diseases including depression, insomnia, drug abuse and weight loss. However, it did not come into popularity until President Nixon made his historical visit to China in 1972. That is the event that largely opened the door from East to West and vice-versa.

There are about 2,000 acupuncture points on the human body. Each point is associated with different healing attributes. Acupuncture points within the year are tapped for detoxification and weight loss. The organs treatable by ear acupuncture, for example, include the lung, kidneys, liver and nervous system.

But before deciding to go for acupuncture as a remedy for your weight loss, be sure to make sure you are using a reputable weight loss practitioner. If treated by an expert practitioner, acupuncture can be an easy way out to free you from the shackles of excessive fat accumulated in your body.

Acomplia Diet Pill to Give Fats a Breather

Writen by Clarence Carter
21st June 2006. For most people, the day was just like any other day, holding not much importance. But for obese people in the UK, the day will be ever remembered. For on this day, Acomplia, the wonder drug for obesity was released for sale on prescription. Research on acomplia as a diet pill was going on for years. And all eyes were on when the wonder drug will be released.

After Fen-phen, Acomplia diet pill was the most anticipated drug and many overweight people had their trust clung on this drug to give them freedom from excessive fat. Therefore, news of approval of acomplia came like rain during a dry spell. It raised the hope that finally they can get rid of fat, which not only gave one a clumsy look but also made them susceptible to many diseases of the heart.

Acomplia is the brand name of Rimonabant. French pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Synthelabo, could easily sense the huge market for any such drug. In the UK, 46% of men and 32% of women have been reported overweight, i.e. who have a body mass index of 25-30 kg/m2. Moreover, 17% of men and 21% of women have been reported obese, i.e. with a body mass index of more than 30 kg/m2. US and Europe together account for 100 million overweight people. This makes the market for Acomplia diet pill a huge one. All agencies, which were authorized to sell acomplia on prescription, informed being flooded with orders just as news of approval in the UK spread.

It is said that hitting at the roots of a problem is the best way to fight the problem. Acomplia diet pill operates in a similar manner. It targets certain receptors in our brain, which offers a pleasure sensation on eating. These are cannabinoid receptors. It is these receptors that are tickled when one consumes marijuana. This is why we feel hungry after smoking a joint of marijuana. Blocking cannabinoid receptors helps dampening appetite. Therefore, weight loss is realized.

Weight loss with acomplia diet pill is remarkable. In a placebo controlled study undertaken on 6800 patients with acomplia (with diet and physical exercise included), the average reduction in weight was as much as 6.5 kgs, as compared to 1.6 kgs through a placebo; i.e. approximately four times as much as placebo.

Rimonabant is still awaiting clearance by FDA in the US. Sanofi plans to launch Rimonabant under the new name ‘Zimulti’ here. Until such time that the Americans hear about FDA approval, they will have to continue with the fate. And if they are die-hard fans of this drug then they will not mind visiting a doctor in the UK and purchasing acomplia from a local pharmacy here. The pain will certainly be insignificant before the pain of being obese.

Clarence Carter received training as a healthcare scientist. She has been working in the same field and writes informative articles, weight loss being her pet subject. Two of the best-known treatments for acne include phototherapy and the Zen Med Derma Cleanse System.

Let’s take a closer look at how both of these products treat acne.

Within the last year the FDA has approved a form of phototherapy (or acne light therapy) called ClearLight to help treat acne sufferers.

ClearLight is a particularly strong form of blue light that is administered to patients by way of fluorescent lighting or the use of special lasers.

Studies of this method have shown that when phototherapy is used twice a week, is able to reduce acne at the rate greater than 60 percent.

It is believed that the intensity of the blue light applied to the acne gets under the skin and works to kill the bacteria that cause acne.

Clinical trials have shown that the intensity of light must be in the area of 405- 425 nanometers and that after approximately a month of treatments most patients can expect to see a decrease of somewhere in the area of 60-70% of their acne flare ups.

The Zen Med Derma Cleanse System is acne treatment that comes in a three-step system, which includes capsules, gentle cleanser and gel.

It works to both rid patients of their current acne problems and prevent further ones.

What’s so unique about this form of acne treatment is that it is made of all natural ingredients. The capsules are of a herbal quality and work to treat acne from where it originates, on the inside of the layers of skin.

This acne treatment has no known negative side effects.

As with a treatments, you need to speak with a medical doctor and get treatments with a doctors supervision.

Writen by Jennie Winter
When you think about what hot drinks you want to have at the morning, or for that matter, at any other time of the day, consider this: caffeine can seriously affect your health. Now it is no secret that some of the tea companies use caffeine in their products; you can of course choose those that don’t – for example, let us take Wissotzky tea: Black tea has 60 – 70 mg of caffeine, Green tea has 15 – 20 mg while Herbal Tea would have no caffeine at all.

The variety of tastes is quite large: Raspberry Tea, Peach Tea, Nana Tea, Lemon Tea, Cherry Tea – and most importantly – no side effects. It may appear surprising that drinking something like tea should cause anything at all, yet it is important to know the facts. As turns out, caffeine may act upon our moods – especially if you have a tendency towards depression – be aware – consuming caffeine may depress you even more.

To those of you with depression tendencies – avoid caffeine at all cause! Especially when mixed with white sugar, it operates on the brain and may make you feel worse than you did before (brown sugar is better anyway). As you have surely by this time realized – coffee may be your biggest enemy. Black coffee consists 150 mg of caffeine and Instant coffee 120 mg. If you’re a “heavy drinker”, do the math. And let us not forget Coca Cola. This same drink that has conquered the world so fast is another host of caffeine. It is not in vain that caffeine is compared to drugs – indeed, some of us are real Cola-addicts! (I confess, I used to be one myself)

Please, don’t be depressed by this, my intention in precisely the opposite one: my solution was simply not drinking it anymore. There are plenty of other delicious drinks that consist of herbs, and work to improve you daily nutrition. I know that simply refusing something you like may sound hard to do, yet it is quite simple when you try.

Writen by Dorothy M. Neddermeyer, PhD
In steps as in walking. Yes, Walking. While walking this morning, I kept the thought of my topic for my next article uppermost in my mind. As I turned the corner onto my street, the thought came to me—write an article about the health benefits of walking.

Walking at 5 a.m. year around in Phoenix Arizona, a.k.a. ‘The Valley’ is lovely—the majority of people are sleeping and the temperature is still cool. I remember the days I walked in South Dakota when the temperature was 50 below zero including the wind chill. I lived in New York and New Jersey metro area 28 years where the temperature reaches minus zero on occasion. Thus, walking in Arizona year around is a dream come true, even though the temperature reaches 110-112 (or higher) several days in the summer—5 a.m. is a cool 70-80 degrees.

According to researchers, if you walk 30-45 minutes twice a day, you will avoid heart disease, kidney disease, stress related diseases, diabetes or any metabolism problems. Don’t forget to hydrate while you walk—especially in the summer.

I heard those moans, groans and screams from here. Who has 60-90 minutes a day to invest in walking?” OK. Rephrase that. Who has 20-30 years to invest in poor health? That is the average number of years the majority of people suffer with various life threatening diseases. I know I don’t. I want to keep on until I am 110 and then decide when I will leave this earth plane. OK, that is me. You can live a healthy life into your 90’s and not die from a disease. You can die because you don’t want to be on this earth plane anymore by simply going to sleep and not waking up.

“Twenty-nine million Americans are in medical debt,” says Jennifer Edwards of the Commonwealth Fund, a private foundation that supports research on health and social issues. A recent Commonwealth study defined those in medical debt as paying bills to health care providers or having large credit card debt or loans against their homes related to medical costs.

“Of those, 70% were insured when they got the health care that put them in debt, and nearly half had used up all or most of their savings,” Edwards said.

I enjoy an early morning walk; the air smells fresher after a few hours with less air pollution and noise. Not to mention I enjoy seeing raccoon, rabbit, coyote, skunk, etc. scurrying to their hide-out for the day. They look at me as if to say, ‘What are you doing here?’

You can multi-task while walking—meditation, creative thinking, or soul thinking.

Now that you know from research that 30 to 45 minutes of walk twice a day will make a huge impact on your health or disease—you decide. If you can’t walk 30 to 45 minutes every day even 30 minutes three or four days a week is beneficial.

Wow! Knowledge is power! You are empowered—it is your decision—and no one can take it away from you. Now is the time. Just Do It!!

Eat Yourself Healthy

Writen by James Brunton
You’re hungry, so you eat. It’s so simple, isn’t it? Well, maybe not so simple these days.

It is apparent that what you eat has a profound effect on how you feel and how healthy you are.

Your diet, the number of calories, the Glycemic Index, the mix of protein and carbohydrate, the amount of refined sugar, processed or home made, when you eat and more, all have some effect on your long-term health and ultimately happiness.

Eating has turned into a science instead of a simple necessity. The focus on food is now where and how it is grown and the time it takes to get from field to your table.

Food processing companies are becoming as large and powerful as drug companies in that they bombard us with advertising to try the latest food combination ready-made, frozen meal. They play on the pace of life today and the lack of time to prepare and cook food for you and the family.

The consequence of poor diet throughout your life increases your chances of becoming overweight and developing diabetes, or even possibly some other disease such as cancer. It is not something to look forward to.

Maybe now is a good time to review what you eat and think about changing to a healthier mix of food. Certainly, cutting down of processed food is a must, as is trying to reduce the amount of refined sugar you munch through in cookies, cakes and candies.

But, don’t think the news is as bad as it might seem. The benefits of fresh and organic foods are many, and they taste just great. Once you get into the habit of choosing fresh fish and meat, seasonal fruit and vegetables, you’ll never go back.

You will feel better and happier, and you will be healthier.

What to do is take a look at what makes up these delicious fresh foods. Check out their calorie content, how many vitamins and minerals they contain, how much fat both saturated and unsaturated, the water content and most of all just what impact they can have on your health.

Suddenly you will see how omega-3 fatty acids help a whole list of conditions such as helping your memory, lowering cholesterol, reducing inflammation, building up your immune system and much more.

You’ll discover the benefits of antioxidants to help combat ageing, and lutein to help preserve your sight.

What about the good things that fibre, both soluble and insoluble, does for health?

Then, there are the foods that fight cancer. Broccoli, for instance, slows cancer growth and may kill Helicobacter pylori in your stomach so preventing ulcers.

The list is endless. All kinds of fresh fruit and vegetables contribute to your well-being. It doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to prepare healthy, nutritious and delicious meals. And, buying healthy food takes no longer than unhealthy processed meals.

Take a look at some fresh foods and you’ll be surprised just how good they are for you.

Is there an easy way to quit smoking?

Well yes and no. First of all, if you are not committed and not ready to take the plunge then there is no easy way to quit smoking for you.

It helps to get disgusted in your habit. A lot of people find a higher success rate after a “scare”.

Usually a health scare is enough to send a “smokers” drive looking for an easy way to quit smoking. Whether it be themselves or a family member who have experienced an unpleasant health side effect from a result of smoking cigarettes.

It’s unfortunate that it takes such dramatic measures till a smoker is ready to take action and look for an easy way to quit smoking.

There are many different options available to you if you want to quit smoking.

Some people swear by using patches or nicorette gum. Some people go cold turkey but most people don’t find this an easy way to quit smoking.

Having a variety of options available is important as not everyone will get the same results using the same product – you must find the best method for you personally in order to reach the best results for yourself.

Wishing you the best of luck in finding your easy way to quit smoking.

Most products used medically in acne prevention and treatment contain specific compounds that address the problem. Their presence in a product will be mentioned on the packaging.

One of these compounds is benzoyl peroxide, sometimes in combination with the antibiotic erythromycin. The popular Clearasil contains this agent. The main disadvantage of using products containing it is that benzoyl peroxide can be a MAJOR skin irritant, since peroxide is basically an oxidant which can damage healthy skin tissue. Though they are very effective in many cases, the pros and cons of using benzoyl peroxide-based products must be carefully weighed by a dermatologist before they are actually employed.

Tretinoin is another chemical compound which has found favor with dermatologists, since it has a dermabrasive (i.e. skin peeling) effect and allows pores to decongest. Invariably, tretinoin causes an aggravation of the acne before it begins to work beneficially. It can also produce some unpleasant side effects like temporary pigment changes and flushing, stinging, swelling and scaling of skin. This is expected and no cause for alarm. Products containing tretinoin are available in the form of gels, lotions and creams for topical application and their consistent use can produce favorable results in less than a month. Tretinoin treatment is for a medically specified time period only, and should not be employed beyond that.

Another commonly occurring agent in acne treatment compounds is adapalene gel, which works by keeping skin pores clear and unobstructed. Products containing adapalene are available only by medical prescription and must not be used outside close dermatological monitoring. Though generally beneficial, they can cause itchiness, scaling, extreme localized dryness, and an inflamed appearance.

Many dermatologists prescribe oral antibiotics such as doxycycline, tetracycline and minocycline. Again the benefits must be medically weighed against possible complications like stomach upsets, vertigo and reduced efficacy of birth control pills in women.

It is important to note that effective acne treatment usually involves lifestyle changes as well a medicine. It is wise to consult a dermatologist before taking any acne medicine.
